Support Group Participation Details

If you would to be involved in the support groups through Weight Loss Surgery NZ and Foundations of Healthy Living Retreat, please read on…

The main Support Group will be open to anyone, as an online group through a programme called Zoom.  This is a webinar tool where you will be sent a link to use, you install Zoom on your computer or phone, login and join in a group conversation.  This can be either a video link or speaking only – it is entirely up to you if you prefer to remain anonymous and not video in – however we would like to encourage you to meet your WLS community.

These group meetings will be held fortnightly on a Sunday at 6.30pm.  Robyn will present a topic each meet up followed by a time for a general Q&A. They will be around 1 – 1.5 hrs long depending on the number of people on the call .

If you have any specific questions prior to the meeting, please send them through to Robyn via messenger on her Facebook page ‘Your Lifebox’

If you know of others that may be interested, please encourage them to also register through the FB page and Robyn will add them to the list.  We also have a number of people joining who have not had surgery, as we recognise the skills for living a healthy life cover many aspects and people in different phases of their journey.

The long-term objective is that this group will then have area-based face to face meet-ups hosted by one of the Support Group members every few months, when they are in the area.  Robyn will also be hosting some special expert guest presenters during the year for interviews on the process.

So, if you are keen to stay connected, receive support and meet with like-minded people, get in touch with Robyn Graves on, or us at the clinic and we can put you in touch with her.

We do not heal in isolation, we heal in community :) Take the next step x

WLS Support Groups - North Island

There is great evidence to link support structures post Bariatric Surgery (support groups) to success rates with excess weight and weight-loss maintenance, and so we have decided to implement more of a systemised approach to support groups.

Robyn Graves, one of our passionate, supportive patients has taken on a Support Group Co-ordinator role and will be creating and facilitating support groups around the country, with a focus on Hamilton, Tauranga, New Plymouth and Wellington. (there is even an opportunity, if enough interest, of setting these up in the South Island as well).

We know group therapy and support focus on helping patients make lasting lifestyle adjustments providing an excellent platform to allow you to share successes and failures, as well as providing a sense of community and encouragement.

Come along and share your journey and receive/provide some encouragement and support :)

If you wish to know where and when the support group will be in your area, email Robyn here
